Grinding & Polishing
CPT provides precision grinding and polishing for optical glass and other hard materials, from rough shaping through final surface finish. Our processes support flat, curved, and custom geometries, with close attention to thickness, parallelism, surface quality, and dimensional control. Whether the job calls for a prototype, replacement component, or production run, we work from customer drawings and specifications to deliver parts ready for coating, assembly, or final inspection.
Prisms
CPT offers custom optical prisms for beam steering, image displacement, alignment, and wavelength control. Capabilities include right-angle, wedge, penta, dove, roof, and other custom geometries in a range of optical materials. We control angles, surface quality, flatness, and dimensional tolerances through grinding, polishing, and inspection, with coating options available when required. From prototypes to repeat production, prisms are built to the customer’s drawing and end-use requirements.
Cylindrical Optics
CPT offers custom convex and concave cylindrical optics for line generation, beam shaping, one-axis focusing, and image correction. Because cylindrical surfaces act in a single axis, form accuracy and orientation are especially important. We produce cylindrical lenses, rods, and related components in a variety of materials and radii, with grinding, polishing, inspection, and coating options matched to the application. We support both one-off development work and repeat production.
Optical Coatings
Optical coatings can be matched to the wavelength, environment, and performance needs of the finished component. CPT supplies optics with anti-reflection, high-reflection, beamsplitter, metallic, and other specialized coatings for UV, visible, and IR applications. We help coordinate substrate, surface finish, coating specification, and inspection requirements so the completed optic performs as intended in the system. Coating can be incorporated into both prototype and production programs.
Flat Optics
CPT offers custom flat optics for applications where surface quality, flatness, parallelism, and dimensional control are critical. Typical components include windows, filters, mirrors, wedges, spacers, sight glass, and other plane optical parts. We work with a broad range of optical materials and can support grinding, polishing, machining, edging, coating, and inspection as required. Components are produced to customer drawings for medical, laser, aerospace, defense, sensing, and industrial systems.
Sapphire/Zerodur
CPT works with sapphire and Zerodur® for applications that demand exceptional durability, thermal stability, or dimensional control. Sapphire is well suited to protective windows and optics exposed to wear, heat, or harsh environments, while Zerodur’s extremely low thermal expansion makes it valuable for stable optical and metrology components. We machine, grind, and polish these difficult materials to customer specifications, supporting both custom prototypes and repeat production.
Custom Laser Optics
CPT offers custom optical components for laser systems where surface quality, geometry, and material selection directly affect performance. Parts may include cavity reflectors, steering mirrors, beamsplitters, splatter shields, spacers, filters, corner cubes, and other customer-designed optics. We support prototype development through repeat production, combining grinding, polishing, machining, coating coordination, and inspection to meet demanding optical and dimensional requirements.
Metrology
CPT offers precision metrology as a standalone service for customer-supplied optical components and other close-tolerance parts. We inspect critical features such as flatness, radius, surface form, thickness, parallelism, angles, and overall geometry against customer drawings and specifications. Whether supporting first-article approval, process troubleshooting, incoming inspection, or final verification, we provide clear measurement data and dependable confirmation of conformance.
Optical Flats
CPT offers optical flats as high-accuracy reference surfaces for checking the flatness of precision components. Available in custom sizes, shapes, and materials, these parts are polished to produce extremely flat, stable surfaces for use in inspection, calibration, tooling, and metrology. Single-surface and double-surface configurations can be produced to customer requirements, with attention to surface quality, thickness, parallelism, and edge geometry. Custom features and coatings can also be incorporated when needed.
